Configuration and Logistics Specialist

Baltimore (Curtis Bay), MD
Longeviti LLC is searching for a Configuration and Logistics Specialist with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the marine field (preferably with the Coast Guard) to support the US Coast Guard in Baltimore (Curtis Bay), MD.


DESCRIPTION
  • Contractor shall provide one (1) FTE for configuration and logistics support services that possess the below-listed knowledge and experience to perform the tasks listed within this statement of work. Function as a quasi-Engineering Technician.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Selects Configuration Items (CI) at appropriate levels of the product structure to facilitate the documentation, control, and support of the items and their documentation.
  • Determines the types of configuration documentation required for each CI to define its performance, functional and physical attributes, including internal and external interfaces.
  • Establishes configuration baselines for the configuration control.
  • Determines the appropriate configuration control authority for each configuration document consistent with logistic support planning for the associated CI.
  • Establish, initiate, and update Configuration Management (CM) policy and process changes.
  • Reviews Coast Guard and Navy Allowance Parts Lists (APL) to ensure APL accurately reflects current support philosophy.
  • Assist with National Stock Number (NSN) and Allowance Part List (APL) development.
  • Gather Engineering and Logistics information regarding obsolete parts.
  • Create Equipment Integrated Logistics Support Plan (EILSP) and Equipment Support Sheet (ESS) for Medium Endurance Cutters.
  • Initiate, update, and complete assigned Supply Support Requests (SSR), Change Records and Purchase Descriptions (PD’s) in databases. Complete Other Government Agency support requests and Demilitarization (DEMIL) code challenges.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of supply support operations/programs through participation in engineering change meetings, analysis of published engineering changes and Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO)
  • Develop and/or recommend new or revised local Supply Logistics Management policies and implementing procedures.
  • Note: Systems supported by the Configuration and Logistics Support Specialist will primarily be HM&E and ELEX systems and equipment installed aboard MEC platforms.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES:
  • Detailed knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of ship repair and techniques unique to the marine industry.
  • Practical knowledge of shipboard systems and equipment, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the marine field (preferably with the Coast Guard).
  • Ability to climb ladders, access voids and small shipboard spaces for the purpose of research and validation of cutter maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience in proper use of office equipment (computers, scanners, fax machines, etc.) as well as Microsoft office applications. Experienced in Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in order to present and defend technical recommendations; facilitate consensus; present briefings; create and modify technical documents; and advise management officials.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in technical writing as related to marine vessel maintenance and alterations (preferably Coast Guard). Experience with cutter Maintenance Procedure Cards is highly desirable. This experience shall include planning, estimating, activity coordination with other organizations, research, technical review, specification writing, and logistics coordination.
  • Coast Guard specific experience using SFLC Central, IDE SharePoint, CGLIMS, NESSS, CGParts and FLS is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge and experience with commercial and military standards.
